The Snake in our Paradise

We live in The Time of Lies. It has come so far that speaking the truth has become the dangerous thing to do. It has come so far that a man is allowed to lie and still be counted as someone trustworthy - someone people should listen to. And the bigger the lies, the more weight is placed upon these lies - as they were something credible. And as more and more lies are disclosed the madness these lies has created grows, almost like a living creature - a beast that is a bringer of destruction, hate, insanity and destruction of mankind. This beast is not one of our physical reality, but no sane man can deny its existence.

The actions of this monster can be seen and felt all over this world and far into the minds of human beings.

It commands waste powers fueled by the fear every man feel burning at the bottom of his heart. It employs a waste horde of followers, mindless subhumans with fear in their eyes and destruction in their actions. And the number of followers grows, as the madness breeds even more madness, as hate breeds hate and fear lights the flame of fear within every man.

We can see this creatures workings through the actions of desperate humans who find themselves loosing their humanity in a reality controlled by this cruel beast. We can perceive its presence in the Iraqi battlefields, in the stark hunger in Darfur, in the degradation of humans at Guantanamo, in the actions of two kids in Columbine and in countless other senseless tragedy's. And every time mankind becomes a little less humane, every incident is a step away from the path towards paradise. A paradise that today is burning with the chaotic fires of fear.

And I ask to myself, what is this monster, what is this snake in our paradise? Of which eggs did it hatch and of what source does it feed and grow? Do these destructive incidents have anything in common? In what soil is the midnight black tree of madness growing?

Many years have been spent on the search for answers, and slowly an understanding has manifested itself. First as a quality of my own mind, and from that realization I have understood that this is a characteristic of the mind of man. The truth is that man is bringing this beast into his reality by himself, it is we who give it powers and it is we who does its biddings.

We are its creators and its worshipers. We are trapped by our own creation in endlessly repeating cycles of destruction. And this snake in our paradise has a name, and that name is rationality - a mind construct not of our world - a beast hatched of fear, greed, madness and stupidity - a creature brought into this world for selfish reasons.

And that which is destroyd by this beast is the wery thing that makes us human - a mindset focused on all the needs of our fellow humans.
